As president and co-founder of Claris Advisors, formerly AMD Financial Services, Stan brings a team, as well as an academic, approach to investing. While he adopted the academic approach in his second career, he perfected the team approach in his first, as third basemen for the St. Louis Cardinals. Today he calculates his batting average by his success in creating “Clients for Life” and then helping them achieve their financial dreams. He specializes in advising individuals, their families and small- to medium-sized companies on investment strategy, portfolio construction, risk management, financial planning and retirement planning.
Stan and his team serve individuals and businesses in the St. Louis metropolitan region and across the country in an array of industries including healthcare and other professional services, construction and manufacturing, and sports and entertainment. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Eastern Illinois University. Today, Stan and his wife are avid fans at the softball and volleyball games and dance recitals of their two daughters. He started the firm in 1998.
Scott serves as Wealth Advisor for Claris by leading the day-to-day operations of Claris and by designing and implementing improved processes and operational policies, and also assisting clients with portfolio management and financial planning. Scott specializes in providing comprehensive advice on retirement plans, employee benefit plans, tax qualified investing and insurance. Scott views his clients as family members, and believes in always doing what is right for them. He has over 15 years of experience in the financial industry and holds several certifications including the CFP (Certified Financial PlannerTM) and holds a bachelors and masters degree in finance from Stetson University. In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife, their dog and two cats. When able to get away though, he truly enjoys backpacking and trekking to any new and adventurous location.
Cheri is the quarterback of both the Claris team and the Morena family team. As the Client Services Manager for Claris, Cheri handles the operational responsibilities, managing the team’s tasks to stay proactive for Claris clients. While she leaves the “understanding and investing” aspects to Stan, Scott and Chris, Cheri is ready and willing to help clients relax, knowing their investments are being managed with the highest degree of care and commitment. Cheri optimizes workflows and processes to help keep the team running effectively and efficiently. She is also responsible for the team’s compliance program, Claris events and preparing company financials.
As Portfolio Advisor, Chris assists in day-to-day operations for Claris. He joined Claris in 2015 to help serve the growing client needs of Claris by creating new accounts, on-boarding new clients and transaction ledgers. Chris is Series 65 licensed, and is also assisting in portfolio analysis and Monte Carlo report preparation. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the University of Central Missouri, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Chris has previous experience with corporate accounting, including conducting detailed analyses of corporate financials, and is a member of the Financial Management Association International- National Honor Society (FMA-NHS). When away from the office, Chris truly enjoys reading, professionally and personally, and believes this trait transfers well into his love of learning, which is what he does every day at Claris. The passive/evidence based investing philosophy of Claris fits right in with Chris’ passion for helping clients.
As the Client Services Representative, Ruth is the initial go-to contact for clients, making sure they’re able to Understand, Invest and Relax with Claris. Formerly the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at her MBA alma mater, McKendree University, Ruth understands the importance of fiscal responsibility and making informed financial decisions. She handles the day-to-day account administration for new and existing clients, processes all incoming contributions to the custodians and prepares and binds reports for client and prospect meetings.
